Beach project advances
Photo by Ryan Snyder/The Daily Standard

Workers on Monday afternoon connect a discharge pipe to the dredge Hoedag along Edgewater Drive in St. Marys. Hoedag will pump nutrient-loaded muck from the newly enclosed West Beach to a dredge material relocation area to the west. Officials hope to improve the beach's water quality and create a viable swimming area. A new sand base and an aeration system will be installed later.
