LuAnn Sigler
LuAnn Sigler, 63, of Rockford, passed away Monday evening, September 2, 2019, at home, surrounded by her loving family, after battling cancer for the past 5 years. She is now pain-free and with her Heavenly Father.
LuAnn was born in Celina, Ohio, on June 16, 1956, the daughter of the late Robert W. Clay, Sr. and Vivian R. (Frysinger) Clay. She was a graduate of the Parkway Class of 1974, and on February 1, 1975, she married the love of her life, Kim Sigler, who survives. Together, they had two amazing children, Angie and J.R.
LuAnn had lived her entire life in the area, and had owned Sigler Insurance Agency in Rockford, where she was also an agent. LuAnn had also worked at Dickman and Kettler Eye Doctors in Rockford, Peoples Bank, also in Rockford, and at Stephenson Home Improvement, where she was the secretary.
LuAnn was very active in the Rockford community; she was a member of the United Methodist Church in Rockford, and in later years, attended Praise Point Church in Willshire. She was a member of the Rockford Chamber of Commerce, where she also served as president for two years, and also as its secretary. She served on the Mercer County Board of Health in Celina for many years; the executive office of Mercer County Builders Association, the Board of Elections in Rockford, and the Parkway Music Boosters, where she had also served as President. Her most coveted award was that of Rockford's Citizen of the Year Award in 2005.
Needless to say, LuAnn was a go-getter and always liked to stay busy. You never saw her without a smile on her face, giving you a friendly "hello".
LuAnn's most cherished possession was her Family. To LuAnn, Family was Everything, and she was able to enjoy being with them, and making so many wonderful memories with them, which they will always hold dear. She enjoyed watching her grandkids participate in sports, singing with Luna, and traveling with her family and her friends. And she loved watching her Cleveland Indians, Ohio State Football, and Ohio State Women's Basketball on TV.
Surviving in addition to her husband Kim, are two children: Angie Stephenson (Ryan) Berry, of Rockford and J.R. (Jana) Sigler, of Ohio City; one brother, Robert W. (Vicki) Clay, Jr. of Grabill, Indiana; a sister-in-law, Sandra Clay of Greencastle, Indiana, and 4 grandchildren: Brooke Stephenson, Caiden Berry, Drayden Schumm, and Luna Sigler. Also surviving are her in-laws: Brenda & Jim Wise of Hillsdale, Michigan, Troy & Cheryl Adams of Spencerville, and Jodi & Eric Winner of Celina.
Deceased in addition to her parents is her brother, Larry Clay.
A Celebration of Life for LuAnn will be held on Monday, morning, September 9, 2019, at 10:30 a.m., at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home in Rockford, with Pastor Brad Kittle officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Rockford.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, from 2-8 p.m., and on Monday, 1 hr. prior to the service, at the funeral home.
Memorials may be directed to State of the Heart Hospice or to the Parkway Music Boosters.
