Alan Grimm
Alan Clayton Grimm, age 42 of Dallas, Texas, passed away on Monday, June 10, 2019 in Dallas, Texas. He was born on March 14, 1977 in Los Alamitos, California to Christine (Dutra) Williams and to Albert Clayton Williams. Alan was preceded in death by his stepfather Robert H. Grimm, grandmother Bernice (Behm) Dexter, grandfather Frank G. Dutra Jr., aunt Laura (Poole) Grimm and uncle Frank G. Dutra III.
Alan is survived by his mother, sisters; Lisa Renee (Douglas) Boehme of Woodbury, Minnesota, Susan Rae (Jonathan) Haas of California, Maryland, a niece Rachel Haas of College Station, Texas, nephews; Blake Boehme, Grant Boehme of Minnesota, grandmother Doris Jean Dutra of Celina, uncles; Stanley Grimm, Mark Dutra, aunts; Nancy Dutra, Sharon Dutra and cousins; Jason (Brandi) Dutra, Nathan (Sabrina) Dutra, Nicole (Ryan) Werner, Desiree Dutra, and Alicia (Jeff) Bruce.
Alan graduated from the University of the Pacific in 1999 with a BA in International Relations. He became a member of Alpha Kappa Lambda while at UOP. In 2008, he earned a BA in Communications from the University of Maryland and his MBA from Wright State Ohio in 2011.
Alan served in the Navy as a language specialist from 2000 to 2006 during Operation Enduring Freedom. He trained in the Arabic language at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, California and was recognized for his contribution to the Iraqi Freedom campaign in 2003.
Alan lived in many places during his childhood, Navy years and later in his professional life. He had traveled all over the world. He spoke several languages, including French and Arabic. During his high school and college years, he lived in Port Elizabeth, South Africa and Paris, France. Alan enjoyed cooking, kickball, running, and was an avid reader, writer and movie goer. His favorite genres were Sci-Fi, Fantasy and action stories. He loved his 8 years in Texas and had found a home there among family, friends and colleagues.
Everyone is welcome to join the Grimm family in a celebration of Alan's Life, which will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 10, 2019 at the residence of Christine Grimm 5438 Robert Rd. in Celina, with Rev. Dr. Keith Wagner officiating. Military honors conducted by the Celina V.F.W. Post #5713 and the Celina American Legion Post #210, will follow services. Alan's remains will be buried in the Swamp College Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, at pancan.org or 1500 Rosecrans Avenue, Suite 200 - Manhattan Beach, CA 90266 - in lieu of flowers.
