Robert Ramsey
Robert Ramsey, age 91, of Vandalia and formerly of Celina, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2018.
Robert was born October 20, 1926 in Portsmouth, Ohio to the late Robert & Jenny (Noble) Ramsey.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 33 years, Charlotte A. Ramsey, in 2015; his son, Daniel Benedick; and by his close three sisters, Marie, Hilda and Patricia.
Ramsey loved all sports, especially Ohio State and the Reds. He was in the U.S. Navy and retired from the United States Postal Service. He was a former long-time member of Grace United Methodist Church in Dayton and more recently St. Paul United Methodist Church in Celina. He spent his free time watching various sports on TV, reading and living independently where he and Charlotte had a house on the channel to retire at St. Marys.
Robert is survived by his loving daughter, Angela R. McCormick (William); four grandchildren, Shawn (Sheena), Stacy (Anthony) Kirsten, Kristina (Shawn); seven great grandchildren, Jordan, Makayla, Kadence, Daniel, SoPhie, Riley & Grayson; and by his extended family & many good friends.
Ramsey was a very caring, giving & generous person who will be missed.
A special thank you to the Hospice of Palliative Care for helping set up the home and Hospice of Dayton for their support during his final days. Also, the family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude towards Bob's niece, Jenn, and nephew, Jeff, for being accommodating on Sunday's dinner and watching sports.
It was Ramsey's wishes for his body to be donated to the Boonshoft School of Medicine Wright State University Anatomical Gift Program. A committal service will be held on Monday, October 21, 2019, at 12:00 Noon at Calvary Cemetery, 1625 Calvary Drive, Dayton, Ohio 45409 - St. Mary Drive, Section 5.
We all know how Ramsey enjoyed get togethers with family and friends so please come celebrate Ramsey's life at the Carillon Brewery Co., 1000 Carillon Blvd., Dayton, Ohio 45409 after the committal service.
