Toledo's Knapke earns MAC honors

By Daily Standard Staff
University of Toledo center and Marion Local grad Luke Knapke was named the Mid-American Conference's West Division Men's Basketball Player of the Week after some record-setting performances last week.
Last Wednesday, Knapke had a triple-double with 12 points, 12 rebounds and a school-record 10 blocked shots (updated from the original report of nine) in a win over Cleveland State. The blocks allowed Knapke to become the school's all-time leader in blocks.
Then on Sunday, Knapke had a career-high 33 points to go with 11 rebounds in the Rockets' 82-72 win over Marshall.
Knapke currently ranks second on the team in scoring at 16.8 points per game to go with 9.1 rebounds and 3 blocked shots per game. Knapke is also shooting 51% from the field.
Toledo (7-2) returns to action on Saturday to face Detroit Mercy.
