'Rider bowlers sweep Bulldogs

St. Marys claimed Grand Lake bowling bragging rights by sweeping Celina in Western Buckeye League matches on Saturday at Varsity Lanes in St. Marys.
The Roughrider girls improved to 7-1 in league play and handed the Bulldogs their first league loss by a score of 2,465-2,252. St. Marys held a 164-pin advantage after regulation game play and then held off Celina in the baker games.
Jaden Gibson's opening game of 234 allowed her to post a 418 series for the Roughriders. Alayna Thornsberry added a 379.
Madison Harden led Celina (6-1) with a 360. Ashtyn Huber followed with a 320.
In the boys match, St. Marys' 200-plus pin margin after the opening round led to a big 2,519-2,260 win over the Bulldogs. The Roughriders improved to 8-0 in league play.
Junior Hurley led St. Marys with a 387 series. Caleb Monbeck added a 386.
Kaleb Fishbaugh led Celina (5-2) with 329. Britt Hole added a 305.
St. Marys travels to Westgate Lanes in Lima tonight to face Elida. Celina hosts Versailles in non-conference action on Tuesday.
WOHSBC
Boys
New Bremen stayed in first place and unbeaten in conference play with a 2,780-2,607 win over St. Henry at Speedway Lanes in New Bremen. Nicholas Alig and Spencer Alig led the Cardinals with a 443 and 440 series, respectively. A 363 series by Zach Heitkamp took top honors for the Redskins.
Fort Recovery defeated Versailles 2,710-2,629. John Knapke had a 478 series for the Indians. Landon Henry had a match-best 448 series for the Tigers.
Minster beat Parkway 2,476-1,952. Austin Moeller's 354 series led the Wildcats. A 346 series by Tazmin Archer was tops for the Panthers.
Coldwater knocked off Marion Local 2,873-2,571. Michael Schoenherr had a game of 278 as part of a 477 series for the Cavs. Evan Moeller's 354 series was the best for the Flyers.
Girls
Coldwater stayed perfect in league play with a 2,474-1,540 win over Marion Local at Speedway Lanes. Alison Fox's 389 series paced the Cavs. Caitlin Puthoff had a 226 series for the Flyers.
Versailles rolled past Fort Recovery 2,636-2,241. Leading the Tigers was a 371 series by Lindsey Cheadle. Ashlyn Dilworth's 328 series led the Indians.
Minster defeated Parkway 2,115-1,864. Elyssa Mullins rolled a 353 series to lead the Wildcats. No information was submitted by Parkway.

SWIMMING
WBL Championships
The Celina girls finished as runner-up at the league meet held at the Defiance YMCA on Saturday. Ottawa-Glandorf captured the girls championship with St. Marys placing eighth.
Shawnee edged Wapakoneta 246-237 to capture the boys title. St. Marys placed fourth with Celina taking eighth.
Celina senior Kenzie Conn earned four first-place medals on Saturday. Conn won the 200-yard freestyle and 100 backstroke and then teamed up with Claire Gass, Zoe Rolfes and Emma Guggenbiller to win the 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays for the Bulldogs. Guggenbiller and Gass each picked up individual victories with Guggenbiller winning the 100 freestyle and Gass taking the 100 breaststroke.
St. Marys' Kyle Lucas was a two-time champ on Saturday, taking first place in the individual medley and 100 breaststroke.
New Bremen Quint
The New Bremen girls and Versailles boys won a five-team event featuring Marion Local, Fort Loramie and St. Henry at the South YMCA in New Bremen.
Annie Jiang of New Bremen won the individual medley and 500 freestyle and swam legs of the winning 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays. Teammates Ashton Heitkamp (100 backstroke) and Taylor Paul (100 breaststroke) also won events. Marion Local's Kylie Niekamp won the 200 freestyle.
New Bremen's Owen Gabel took first place in the 100 freestyle.
Lima Senior Invite
The Indians took part in a dual meet-format event at the Lima YMCA. The Fort Recovery girls went 4-0 in beating Botkins, Lima Senior, LCC and Toledo Whitmer while the Indian boys went 3-2 with wins over LCC, Whitmer and Emanuel Christian.
Ava Bubp won the individual medley and 100 backstroke for the Indian girls. Shelby Stammen won the 200 freestyle, Paige Fortkamp the 100 freestyle, Kyra Clark the 500 freestyle, Autumn Burk the 100 butterfly and Audra Bubp the 100 breaststroke. The 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays were also victorious.
Picking up a win for the Fort Recovery boys was the 400 freestyle relay.

WRESTLING
Wapakoneta Invitational
Celina finished third in the team standings. Conner (Kentucky) edged Napoleon 264 1/2 points to 262 for the team title. Celina tallied 196 1/2 points.
Landon Engle won the 120-pound championship for the Bulldogs. Tyler Carlin (170), Alex Stachler (182) and Joey Posada (220) each earned runner-up finishes. Third-place efforts were achieved by Derrick Slater (113), Jaden King (138) and Ethan Ly (152). Brycen Miracle (113) and Gavin Brown (145) were each fourth-place finishers with Cory Fortkamp fifth at 195 and Kyler Bowlby sixth at 138.
LCC Thunderbird Invitational
Coldwater placed 15th in the 41-team, two-day event at Herr Gymnasium in Lima. Waynedale won the team title with Allen East second.
Grant Heuing finished third at 145 and Nolan Tobe was sixth at 220.
Joe Szymczak Duals
St. Marys went 2-3 at the tournament in Elmwood.
The Roughriders defeated Fairview 48-21 and Elmwood 48-35 and lost to Wauseon 46-34, Bellevue 50-24 and Clay 63-18.

BOYS BASKETBALL
Parkway 69, Lincolnview 61
Dylan Hughes and Caleb Kinney combined for 43 points and 20 rebounds as the Panthers bounced back from Friday's loss to Versailles with a win over the Lancers.
Parkway led 39-20 at the half and held off a late Lincolnview run.
Hughes finished with 23 points and 14 rebounds with Kinney adding 20 points and six boards. Caden Slusher finished with 19 points.

The Cavaliers shot 54% from the floor in snapping a two-game losing skid with a win over the Cougars in Van Wert.
Tyler Schwieterman finished with 17 points. Ethan Post scored 15 and Noah Miller added 11 points.
Owen Treece paced the Cougars with 14.
