Roger Siefring
Roger F. Siefring, age 83, of Philothea, Ohio, died Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Community Hospital in Coldwater.
He was born February 4, 1936 in Philothea, to the late Bernard J. and Pauline (Dues) Siefring. On November 24, 1960 he married RoseAnn (Moeder) and she survives in Philothea.
Also surviving are his children, Diana & Frank Koesters of Wendelin, Kenneth & Karen Siefring of Philothea, Melinda & Troy Adams of Celina, Elaine & Mark Marchal of North Star, Kevin Siefring of Philothea, Christopher & Tina Siefring of Coldwater, Michelle Siefring of Philothea and Kathleen & Edward Heitkamp of Maria Stein; 27 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren with 2 on the way; siblings and in laws, Luetta Forsthoefel, Bernice Wellman and Herbert Siefring all of Coldwater, Mary Siefring of Coldwater, Mildred Siefring of Celina, Dorothy Siefring of Coldwater and Eileen Siefring of Philothea, Ruth Krebs of Michigan, Richard Moeder of St. Henry, Jerry & Marilyn Moeder of Englewood, Leander & Jeanette Moeder of Maria Stein, Rosie Moeder of St. Henry.
He is preceded in death by a son Eric Siefring; and siblings and in laws, Barthel Siefring, Omer & Monica Siefring, Orville & Jeannette Siefring, Bernard Siefring, Elmer Siefring, Gerald Siefring, Charles Siefring and David Siefring, Don Forsthoefel, Don Wellman and Stella Siefring. Parents-in-law Julius & Anna Moeder, Marcella & Al Larger, Rita & Paul Jones, Norbert & Roberta Moeder, Mary Moeder, Victor Moeder, Sr. Mary Julian Moeder C.PP.S., Charles Moeder, and Fred Krebs.
He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Philothea, Philothea men's sodality, longtime cemetery committee member, funeral mass server and the Coldwater Knights of Columbus; he attended Philothea Special School, was a lifelong farmer and was a member of the Farm Bureau. He was a sergeant in the Army reserves and a member of the Coldwater American Legion and Coldwater Eagles. Roger was an avid softball pitcher, horseshoe player and bowler. He followed the Coldwater Cavaliers, Cincinnati Reds and Cincinnati Bengals. He always enjoyed following his grandchildren's activities. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 AM on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at St. Mary Church, Philothea. Burial with military rites will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 2 to 8 PM and on Wednesday from 9 to 10 AM at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Coldwater.
