Bill Carpenter
Bill D. Carpenter, 69, of St. Marys, OH died 7:15 a.m. Tuesday March 17, 2020 at his residence.
He was born July 27, 1950 in Celina, OH to Norman and Eloise (Egley) Carpenter. On December 18, 1971 in Napoleon, OH he married Jamie Wilkie, who survives.
Also survived by: son Norman E. (Kristin) Carpenter II of St. Marys, OH; son James W. (Jennifer) Carpenter of Loveland, OH; son Benjamin D. Carpenter of St. Marys, OH; grandchildren: Cadence, Bella, Ally, Lana, Will and Elise Carpenter; mother Eloise Carpenter of St. Marys, OH; brother Jack Carpenter of St. Marys, OH; brother Randy (Kay) Carpenter of Logan, OH; brother Tim (Wanda) Carpenter of St. Marys, OH; sister Kim (Larry) Eversman of St. Marys, OH; brother-in-law Edward Wilkie of St. Marys, OH and brother-in-law Eric Wilkie of London, OH.
Preceded in death by: father Norman E. Carpenter; sister Kay Wurster.
He was a graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School (Class of 1968) and attended Mt. Vernon Nazarene College and Wright State University. As the owner of Carpenter Bros. Rides in St. Marys, he provided years of summertime entertainment to generations of attendees at various festivals, fairs and community celebrations.
His favorite pastimes include collecting antiques, repairing small engines, and attending farm shows and flea markets. An avid musician, he delighted in playing the mandolin and harmonica.
Due to the restrictions imposed by the State of Ohio in regard to the Corona Virus pandemic, a private family funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday at the Miller Funeral Home 1605 Celina Road in St. Marys. Private burial will take place at the Resthaven Memory Gardens near Moulton, OH.
