Mary Elizabeth Mauger Toms passed away at her residence on April 17, 2020.

Mary was born August 29, 1927, in Mercer County to the late Raymond and Clara (Dick) Mauger. She married Billie C. Toms on May 10, 1947. Bill passed in 1998 after having celebrated 50 years of marriage.

Also preceding her in death was her brother, Robert Mauger.

Mary is survived by daughters, Susan (Jeff) Ingraham and Tammy (Jerry) Barger, all of Celina, five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. The loves of her life were her grandchildren, Jenny Barger Fleming of Celina, Elizabeth Ingraham Rumschlag of Lima, Ohio, Jim Barger, of Ft. Myers, Florida, Nikki Barger of Wapakoneta, Ohio, and Emily Ingraham Allen of Flushing, New York. She is also survived by a nephew, Tim Mauger, of Florida.

Mary graduated in 1945 from Celina High School and afterwards, attended Bliss Business School in Columbus, Ohio. She worked as a personnel secretary while in Columbus.

Following Bill's graduation from OSU in 1950, and their move back to Celina, she helped establish Toms Insurance Agency which later became Bruns, Gant and Toms Insurance Agency and is now Leugers Insurance Agency in Celina. She spent many years working for various attorneys in town, as well as the Mercer County Board of Elections.

She was involved in many community activities, having been a member of Phi Beta Psi Sorority, American Legion Auxiliary, and the Altruian Club. She served for many years on the board of the Richardson-Bretz Memorial.

Mary was a very active and committed member of Grand Lake United Methodist Church (formerly St. Paul's) in Celina for over 60 years, during which time she taught Sunday School, was church historian, membership secretary, a one-time president of the Women's Society, and many other church committees.

For over ten years, she was a seasonal member of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, in North Ft. Myers, Florida, where she taught Sunday School and was a weekly office volunteer. Her faith in Jesus Christ was of utmost importance to her as she lived out her life.

Mary loved playing golf, dancing, sewing, reading, playing bridge and contract rum, and doing genealogy research, all of which brought strong and intimate relationships with others into her life.

During the years she wintered in Florida, Mary was a 10-year volunteer for the Lee County Visitors Bureau at the Ft. Myers airport. She had also worked part-time at H&R Block in Ft. Myers.

A Celebration of Mary's Life will be held at a later date when the restrictions due to COVID-19 have been lifted. Arrangements are being handled by WH Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home in Celina, Ohio, with cremated remains to be interred at Swamp College Cemetery in Mercer County.
