Gilmore wins race for judge

By Sydney Albert
CELINA - Matthew Gilmore won the Republican nomination for the Mercer County probate/juvenile court judge seat, according to unofficial results on Tuesday night.
No Democrats filed to compete for the position in the November general election.
According to Tuesday night's tally, Gilmore received 3,657 votes while his opponent, Donna M. Post, received 2,091. Last-minute mail-in ballots will change the numbers in the final, official results.
Gilmore, 51, is a Celina native. He has been married to his wife, Amy, with whom he has raised two children, for 30 years. He has served on Celina City Schools Board of Education for almost 20 years and on the board of the Wernle Youth and Family Treatment Center in Richmond, Indiana, for 22 years. He said he has also coached a number of boys and girls sports teams.
He said on Tuesday night that he was extremely grateful to his wife, without whom he could not have won. He also thanked the campaign committee that supported him and coordinated his campaign efforts, saying members did a "bang-up job."
Post was a worthy opponent, he continued, and he thanked her for a good campaign as well as the voters of Mercer County for showing him their support.
