* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 810 AM EDT, radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 1.5 inches are possible. - Some locations that may experience flooding include... Virus forces village layoffs
NEW BREMEN - Three village employees have been laid off due to the financial blow from the coronavirus pandemic.
Mayor Robert Parker announced at Monday's village council meeting that cost-cutting measures have forced the layoff of employees in the public works, water and office staff.
Penno appointed Coldwater fire chief
COLDWATER - David Penno was appointed fire chief at Monday's village council meeting.
Council members appointed Penno after a 17-minute executive session. He has been with the fire department since 2008 and an officer for the last five years. He will receive $2,000 per year for the position.
St. Henry pool, parks, other rec areas to stay closed
ST. HENRY - The village's pool, parks, shelter houses and other recreational areas will remain closed through at least June 15.
Village council members at Monday evening's meeting discussed how long to keep recreational areas under lockdown as part of the governor's "Stay Safe At Home" order.
