Boy dies in ATV accident

FORT RECOVERY - A young child died on Monday evening after an accident involving an all-terrain vehicle north of Fort Recovery.

St. Henry EMS squad members transported the child to Mercer County Community Hospital in Coldwater. Fort Recovery Fire Department chief Roger Lennartz said the child had serious injuries.

However, Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey confirmed on Monday night that the child, who was under the age of 10, had died.

The accident reportedly happened in a field near the intersection of St. Joe Road and State Route 49, in the area of 2407 State Route 49.

Grey said further information would be released once extended family members had been notified. The accident is under investigation.
