James Miller
James P. Miller, age 80, of Celina, Ohio passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2020 at the Gardens at Celina, after a battle with Parkinson's.
He was born on November 12, 1939 in Lorain, Ohio to the late Russell and Anna (Lucas) Miller. On November 18, 1978 he married Tonyia DeLap, who survives living in Celina.
He is survived by his children Deanna (Glenn) McCurdy of Peoria, IL, Deborah (Jeff) Barnes of Brimfield, IL, Julie (Leonard) Hess of Bluffton, Mark (Sandra) Dalton of Arvada, CO, Kevin (Marcella) Dalton of Huntley, IL, fourteen grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, sister Patricia Latto of Amherst, his niece Dawn Essex of Oberlin, and sister-in-laws Beverly DeLap of Franklin, TN, and Paula Blocher of Lawrenceville, IL.
He is proceeded in death by his parents, father-in-law and mother-in-law Howard and Austia (Fye) DeLap and brother-in-law Rollin DeLap.
He graduated from Firelands High School of Oberlin in 1957 and received his Bachelor's Degree in the Science of Agriculture from The Ohio State University in 1961. James proudly served his country in the United States Army until 1962 and remained in the Army Reserves until 1968.
He was formerly employed at Caterpillar Tractor Company in Peoria, Illinois, as a service representative and involved in training employees. Then he was employed at Toledo Edison in Wauseon, OH, as a rural sales engineer. He retired from AGCO in Coldwater as a Technical Writer. James wrote the operating manuals and did the photography for the White/New Idea Machinery, later years did planter & tillage equipment for AGCO.
He was a member of the Grand Lake United Methodist Church in Celina, a member of the Masonic Lodge F&AM, in Lorain and Archibald, Ohio, he was 32-degree Mason of the Scottish Rite. He was also a member of The American Society of Agricultural Engineers.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, October 10, 2020 at the Lehman-Dzendzel Funeral Home in Celina, with Pastor Diane Mendelson officiating. Immediately following services, Military Honors will be provided by the Celina American Legion Post #210 and the Celina V.F.W. Post #5713.
A Memorial Gathering will be held from 2-3 p.m. on, Saturday, October 10, 2020 at Lehman-Dzendzel Funeral Home. Masonic Lodge Services will be held at 3 p.m.
Attendees are required to wear masks, practice social distancing, and follow the COVID-19 guidelines established by Governor DeWine and the Ohio Department of Health.
