Mary Ann Salway
Mary Ann Salway, 85, of Willshire, Ohio passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2020, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
She was born November 25, 1934 in Van Wert County, Ohio to the late Hugo Merkle and the late Erna (Schroeder) Merkle. Mary Ann was united in marriage to Donald Salway on June 3, 1954, at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Schumm and he preceded her in death on December 15, 1993.
She was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Schumm. Mary Ann was also a member of the Willshire Home Economics Club, Van Wert County 4-H for over 45 years, Old Fashion Farmers Association, she also volunteered at the Van Wert County Hospital.
Mary Ann was a 1952 graduate of Willshire High School. She had worked at Parkway Local Schools as a bus driver and also babysat, made crafts, and assisted other farm wives. She enjoyed doing crafts and sewing.
She is survived by a son, David Salway of Rockford, Ohio; son, Charles (Judy) Salway of Celina, Ohio; son, Dennis (Darlene) Salway of Willshire, Ohio; son, Doug (Patty) Salway of McKenna, Washington; sister, Norma Keller of Cranbury, New Jersey; eight grandchildren, Laura Putman, Travis Salway, Joey Salway, Kristina Harlan, Wesley Salway, Benjamin Salway, Kathleen Frisch, and Jennifer Salway; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Edna Merkle and Martha Prpich.
A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 7, 2020, at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Schumm with Pastor Jeff Patterson officiating. Burial will follow at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, Schumm.
Friends and family will be received 4-8 p.m. Friday, November 6, 2020, at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur, Indiana, and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.

In lieu of flowers the family would prefer memorials to Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Schumm.
