Margaret Louise Spindler
Margaret Louise Zizelman Spindler, 92, of Hoagland, Indiana, formerly of Rockford, passed away Monday, November 23, 2020, at 6:30 p.m., at Adams Heritage in Monroeville, Indiana.
Louise was born on October 30, 1928, in Mercer County, Ohio, the daughter of Charles H. and Zelma (Shupp) Zizelman. She was a graduate of Rockford High School, and on July 29, 1951, she married Paul Spindler, who preceded in death on July 24, 1996.
Louise had lived the past 55 years in Hoagland, and was a member of the Antioch Lutheran Church in Hoagland. She had worked at Stokely in Celina, Ohio, and Huffy's also in Celina; she then worked at Peridot molding company in Hoagland, and later at Walmart in Decatur, Indiana.
She was very active in her church, where she had served as the secretary of the Ladies Aid and also served on the church council.
She was an avid gardener and loved grooming her lawn and taking care of all her flowers. In the Spring, she would have lots of spring flowers and lots of planters - when Winter rolled around, she could be seen shoveling snow, up until the last couple of years. Her family was everything to her - her children and her grandchildren; as long as she was able, she loved going to her grandkids sports events.
She and Paul had 5 children: Russell (Annette) Spindler of Rockford, Ohio; Steve Spindler of Houston, Texas, Jeff Spindler, who is deceased, Dave (Linda) Spindler of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Karen Hilyard of Decatur, Indiana. Surviving are 4 grandchildren: Taylor Hilyard, Paige Hilyard, Jordan Hilyard, and Jake Spindler; deceased are two grandchildren: Royce Spindler and Regis Spindler, and a step-grandchild, Randy Sovine. Louise also has two great-grandchildren: Rhylynn Hilyard and Jaylynn Hilyard. Surviving is a brother, Charles "Butch" Zizelman of Celina, Ohio and 4 sisters: Betty Sites, Celina, Ohio; Juanita Matthews, Neptune, Ohio; Joanne of Wisconsin; Patty Wilson, Celina, Ohio; and a brother-in-law, Dallas Coats of Celina, Ohio.
Deceased is a brother, Gene Zizelman, a sister and her husband, Kate and "Junior" Rickard, a brother-in-law, John Sites, and a son-in-law, Brad Hilyard.
Friends and relatives may call at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home in Rockford, Ohio, on Saturday, November 28, 2020, from 10:00 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Those attending must wear masks and social distance 6 feet from other attendees.
Following the visitation, there will be a private service for the family, due to COVID-19 restrictions for the maximum amount of people, the funeral home can accommodate, adhering to social distancing. Officiating will be Pastor David Taylor. Burial will follow in Mercer Memory Gardens, Celina, Ohio.
