Auglaize County reports 5 new COVID-19 cases

At-home test kits available at Auglaize libraries

WAPAKONETA - Auglaize County Health Department officials on Monday reported five new confirmed cases of COVID-19 since their last update on Wednesday, raising the county's total number of cases to 3,416.
The Mercer County Health District releases numbers on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Auglaize County health officials in a news release also reported a cumulative 1,119 probable cases, 174 hospitalizations, 62 deaths and 4,411 people who are presumed to have recovered.
In a social media post, Auglaize County noted the Auglaize County Library is offering free at-home COVID-19 test kits at all locations. The kits are supplied by the state.
Individuals can schedule a pickup through the library's website at www.auglaizelibraries.com. Tests are available through contactless pickup only and are not available inside.
For the at-home tests, individuals will need a Windows or Apple computer with a webcam, microphone and speaker, an Apple or Android phone or tablet, email address and internet connection, according to the post.
Ohio has secured the purchase of at least 2 million tests that can be self-administered outside of a clinical setting. The Abbott BinaxNOW home test can be provided to individuals for at-home use and is packaged with a free telehealth session to oversee test administration, including prescription writing and result reporting.
As of Monday afternoon, the Ohio Department of Health reported a cumulative 990,340 confirmed and probable cases, 51,642 hospitalizations and 17,871 Ohio resident deaths since the pandemic began.
