Janae Hoying
Minster
5-8 Junior Guard
12.0 PPG, 3.5 Assists, 4.0 Steals
As soon as she was elevated to the varsity late in her freshman season, Hoying made an impact, highlighted by a 15-point performance in the Division IV state title game against Ottoville.
Ironically, it was then-Ottoville coach Dave Kleman who recommended to Minster coach Mike Wiss that Hoying deserved to be on the varsity after she had a dominating junior varsity game against the Big Green in the regular season.
From that point on, Hoying became a potent 1-2 punch in the backcourt with classmate Ivy Wolf. The tandem's ability to scurry around the floor quickly on both offense and defense led coach Mike Wiss to refer to them as "the little rats."
There was nothing mousy about Hoying, whose defensive prowess made her one of the most dangerous defenders. Hoying recorded 248 steals in her career to go with 886 career points and 253 assists
Hoying earned third-team All-Ohio last season and was a two-time first team All-MAC selection. Hoying will play at the University of Findlay next season and should make an impact for the Oilers.
