James Clark
James "Jim" Clark, 78 years old, of St. Marys, OH, died on March 25, 2021.
Jim was born on December 13, 1942 in Sidney, OH to the late Robert and Anne (Watercutter) Clark. Jim was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Shirley (Homan), who passed away on January 2, 2017.
He is survived by his son Jerry of Mason, OH (fiancé Cathy VanFossen), grandchildren Jeremy Clark of Huber Heights, OH (fiancé Alyssa Wallwey), and Alexis Clark of Springboro, OH, his brother, Jerry Clark (wife Jhonae (Billing), of Kure Beach, NC, and many loving cousins, siblings-in-law, nephews, nieces, and dear friends.
Jim graduated in 1962 from Anna High School, Anna, OH. On February 11, 1964, Jim married his love, Shirley. They resided in McCartyville, OH for 35 years prior to moving to a home on Grand Lake St. Marys to enjoy their retirement. Jim worked for United Telephone Company of Ohio later becoming Sprint, retiring after 42 years. Jim was a parishioner of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in McCartyville and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Jim loved travel adventures. He and Shirley took their boat, in their early years, on joyrides all over the region including Grand Lake St. Marys, Indian Lake and Lake James, IN. In recent years Jim enjoyed cruising on his pontoon with family and friends at Grand Lake St. Marys. He also loved going on cruises with destinations to Hawaii, Alaska and the Caribbean. Fishing was a life-long favorite past-time. Jim spoke fondly of his annual trips with friends to Rice Lake, Canada to reel in blue gills and catching crappie out his back door. Jim enjoyed many trips with Shirley to Northern California and San Francisco. Jim especially enjoyed riding the trolley cars, going to the Buena Vista for breakfast and an Irish coffee followed up by attending the North American Auto Show at the Moscone Center. Later he and Shirley enjoyed annual snow-bird trips with good friends to South Padre Island, Tx. Jim and Shirley covered most of the United States in a motor home. Some of their favorite camping destinations were frequent weekends at Kozy Campground, an ocean side campground in Myrtle Beach, SC and many Kampgrounds of America. A particular highlight to Jim was visiting his brother Jerry and sister-in-law, Jhonae, and his nieces and nephews in North Carolina as well as the previous states they resided during earlier years. Jim thoroughly enjoyed laughing and joking around with his dear friend, the late Judy Frilling, and her family, at their cabin in the Hocking Hills.
Jim loved being active outdoors doing home projects, gardening, mushroom hunting and playing golf in a league at Shelby Oaks. He also had a talent for painting pictures, especially of light houses, and painting ceramic figures used as interior decorations.
Jim was commonly described as "such a good guy" by those who were blessed to know him. While the light in his earthly lighthouse has faded, we find peace and comfort knowing that his light now shines bright in heaven.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on March 30, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, McCartyville, Ohio.

Front Street, St. Marys, Ohio 45885, or the Grand Lake Hospice, 122 E. Spring Street, St. Marys, Ohio 45885, rather than offers of flowers and other mementos.
