Ronald Jones
Ronald "Ronnie" E. Jones, 82, of Fort Recovery, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, May 4, 2021, at the Miller Place in Celina.
He was born on April 24, 1939, in Fort Recovery to the late Glenn and Mildred (Haubert) Jones.
Ronnie is survived by his wife of 55 years, Nancy (Schwieterman) Jones, whom he married on September 18, 1965; his children, Kent (Casey) Jones of Fort Recovery, Wayne (Jenni) Jones of Fort Recovery, and Russ (Stacy) Jones of Coldwater; his grandchildren, Anthony, Claudia, Eric, Sam, Andrew, Monte, Sawyer, Tyler, and Meredith; his in-laws, John (Jinny) Schwieterman of St. Henry, Tom (Marge) Schwieterman of Burkettsville, Ron (Ellen) Schwieterman of Fort Recovery, Jerry Borchers of Russia, Deb Schwieterman of Burkettsville, Bill (Cheryl) Gaerke of Fort Recovery, and Karen (Jack) Hatert of New Weston.
In addition to his parents, Ronnie was preceded in death by his daughter, Jody Jones; his granddaughter, Natalie Jones; and his in-laws, Judy (Lowell) Ditmer, Sue Borchers, Roy Schwieterman, Mary Gaerke, Ron Wendel, and Darlene Schwieterman.
Ronnie was a 1957 graduate of Fort Recovery High School. He spent 6 years as a member of the Army Reserve where he served his country honorably. In Ronnie's early years, he worked for Vonderhaars Custom Meat Processing in Fort Recovery, where he developed many friends. Ronnie was an avid farmer and raised turkeys. He was a member of the American Legion Post 345 in Fort Recovery. Ronnie was a part of The Pioneer Club and the BB Boys. He loved playing cards, going fishing at Lake Erie, camping, and going to flea markets. In his free time, Ronnie loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. It was not uncommon to see Ronnie at his grandchildren's sporting events and extracurricular activities. He liked going back to the woods with his family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 8, 2021, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1689 St. Joe Road, Fort Recovery, Ohio, 45846, with Father Ned Brown officiating. Burial, with full military honors, will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Guests may visit with Ronnie's family on Friday, May 7, 2021, from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM and again on Saturday, from 8:30 AM until 9:30 AM at Brockman Boeckman Funeral Home in Fort Recovery.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Veterans Plaza Maintenance Fund, Fort Recovery.
