Benjamin Engle Jr.
Benjamin Franklin Engle, Jr., 83, of Celina, OH died 4:18 a.m. Monday May 3, 2021 at Van Wert Co. Hospital.
He was born June 8, 1937 in Kodak, KY to Benjamin and Marie (Sumner) Engle. On September 20, 1969 he married Betty Boltz McDermitt, who survives.
Also survived by: son Craig (Brenda) McDermitt of St. Marys, OH; daughter Linda Sue (Dave) Williams of Dayton, OH; son Mike (Kathie) McDermitt of St. Marys, OH; son Curtis Engle of Celina, OH; Son John (Sally) McDermitt of Celina, OH; son Todd (Angie) Engle of Dayton, OH; 13 grandchildren; 75 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; brother Wayne (Carol) Engle of Selinsgrove, PA; brother Vaughn (Billie Dru) Engle of Celina, OH.
Preceded in death by: parents Benjamin and Marie Engle; daughter Deanna Jo Slone; son Richard Engle; son Franklin (Kathy) Engle; sister Thelma Engle-Turner; sister Jewell Engle-Gerwells; sister Florene Engle-Dubassio; brother Charles E. Engle; brother Billy V. Engle; brother James O. Engle
He proudly served his country, having been a veteran of the United States Army. He was a retired production employee from the Huffy Bicycle Mfg. Co. in Celina, where he had served as a union representative to the United Steel Workers for many years. He was a member of the Beaver Chapel Congregation Church in rural Celina. Spending time with his family was his top priority (especially, teasing his grandchildren).
Rites are scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. on Friday May 7, 2021 at the Miller Funeral Home 1605 Celina Road (Ohio 703 West) in St. Marys, with Pastor Tom Christian, officiating. Burial will follow at the Swamp College Cemetery, in rural Celina.
Visitation 12:00 noon - 2:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
