Inge Vermeire
Inge H. Vermeire, age 92, of St. Henry, died on Thursday, June 10, 2021 at the Gardens at St. Henry.
She was born September 2, 1928 in Munich, Germany to the late Joseph & Magdelina (Westimwier) Achatz.
She is preceded in death by her husband Alvin Vermeire and all of her siblings.
She is survived by two daughters, Eydie (Dan) Kremer of St. Henry and Loie (George) Baumgartner of Henderson, NV; three grandchildren, Megan (Kane) Swaney, Chelsey (Eric) Raterman and Katie (Josh) Schwieterman; and six great-grandchildren, Alaina, Brenna, Eli, Charlee, Owen and Jake.
Those who were lucky to have known or even made Inge's acquaintance will remember her fun loving, witty and larger than life personality. She brought spontaneity and her unique laughter everywhere she went.
Inge graduated from the University of Munich and worked as a telegraph operator in the Munich post office. In 1956 she emigrated to the United States with her husband and worked as a payroll supervisor at JC Penny, she later in retirement helped manage a campground in Florida with her husband. She was active with the Rainbow Girls, a member of the Eastern Star, the American Legion and worked with the Shriners.
No public services will be held. The Hogenkamp Funeral Home in St. Henry is handling arrangements.
