Anne Elizabeth (Beare) Swift, age 68, of Pflugerville, Texas, passed away suddenly in her home on Friday, July 30, 2021. She was born July 18, 1953 in Celina, to the late Dr. Paul & M. Virginia (Hastings) Beare.

The youngest of three, Anne was raised in Celina where she attended school at Immaculate Conception. Her empathic nature and passion to help and care for others led her into the field of social work. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in social work from the University of Dayton in 1975, and earned a Master of Social Work degree from Loyola University Chicago in 1985. She made an impactful difference in many lives throughout her career, but perhaps no more than through her work in hospice and palliative care. She entered patients' and families' lives when they were most vulnerable, providing them comfort and counsel in their greatest time of need.

The same traits that made Anne great in her profession also made her magnificently special to her family, friends, and colleagues: she had a quick wit, a soft spirit, an infectious smile, and she loved easily. Anne lived in many places throughout her life, forming fond friendships and leaving lasting impressions throughout her journey, but later in her life, "home" for her became less about where she was, and more about who she was with. Anne loved her daughter and son dearly, but the greatest source of joy in her life was her five grandsons. She moved from California to Texas in 2017 in order to be at home with all of them.

Anne's appearance and personality were also a direct reflection of her physical home: well-kept, comfortable, and welcoming. For those who entered her home, there was never a doubt of what holiday was around the corner. She found great joy in decorating and baking for various holidays year-round and celebrating them with her family and friends, and no holiday or occasion was too small to warrant a gift. Anne was genuinely attentive and famous for giving her loved ones thoughtful and unexpected gifts, only seeking a smile and a hug in return. She would be too humble to believe that the greatest gift she gave to any of us and this world was truly and simply herself.

She is survived by her husband, William Swift, daughter, Katherine (Michael) Swafford of Maumelle, Arkansas; son, Benjamin (Carolyn) Lemming of Cedar Park, Texas; two siblings, John (Pauline) Beare and Mary Beare; five grandchildren, Porter, Everett, Griffin, Bennett, and Bowen; and a host of loving extended family.

Calling Hours are 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Thursday, August 12, and from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. on Friday, August 13, at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home in Celina. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 13, at Immaculate Conception Church in Celina, with Fr. Ken Schnipke, C.PP.S., presiding.

The Mass will be live-streamed on the church website at https://celina-ic.org/live. The video will remain online for 30 days. Anne will be laid to rest next to her parents at St. Valbert Cemetery, Versailles.
