Alice Niekamp
Alice "Sarie" M. Niekamp, age 78, of Osgood, died on Monday, August 9, 2021, at Ayden Health Care in Greenville, Ohio. She was born June 28, 1943, in Sharpsburg to the late Andrew & Lucille (Frey) Bergman.
She married Orville Niekamp on October 2,
1965 who preceded her in death on March 19, 2007.
She is survived by children, Doug & Sue Niekamp of North Star, Cindy & Steve Muhlenkamp of St. Anthony, Patty & Mike Groff of North Star, Julie & Scott McEldowney of Versailles, Christy & Randy Gehret of Willowdell, 18 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren. Alice is also survived by siblings and in-laws Elton "Butch" Bergman of Ft. Loramie, Jerald & Deb Bergman, of Rossburg, Linda & Jim Bergman of North Star, Theresa & Ken Westbay of Huntsville, TX, Marlene & Bill Wilker of North Star, Delores Bergman of Lebanon, Dave & Rosie Cooper of New Bremen, and Bernie Niekamp of Rossburg.
In addition to her parents and husband, Alice is preceded in death by one grandchild, Zane McEldowney, and one great grandchild, Riley Groff, as well as siblings and in-laws. Marion "Moe" Bergman, Eugene Bergman, Victor Niekamp, Mary Ann Nieberding, Bernard Nieberding, Mary & Bart Ahlers, Bertha & Urban Homan, Edna & Al Heitkamp, and Ed & Mary Nieberding.
Alice was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church in North Star and the St. Anne's Sodality at the church. She was a member of the North Star American Legion Auxiliary, the North Star Fire Department Auxiliary, and was co-owner and operator of George's General Store in North Star. Alice retired from Wagner's IGA and had also worked in the North Star Post Office. She was a longtime league bowler at McBo's Lanes and loved spending time with her family.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 13, at St. Louis Church in North Star. Burial will follow in St. Louis Cemetery.
Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 12, at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in St. Henry, and from 9-10 a.m. on Friday at St. Louis Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer
