Jim Perts
Jim "Pertsy" Perts, age 70, of Celina, passed away on August 17, 2021 at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.
He was born January 2, 1951 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Charles E. and Sally J. (Hull) Perts. On June 6, 2009 he married Karen (Adams) Perts and she survives at their residence in Celina.
Other survivors include his son, Dallas J. (Deb) Perts, Celina; a sister-in-law, Cindy Adams, Louisville, Kentucky; his mother-in-law, Sally Feltz, Celina; three grandchildren, Erica, Cala and Devean; and three great grandchildren.
Jim was also preceded in death by a son, Justin Perts.
He was a 1969 graduate of Mentor High School in Mentor, Ohio. He went on to receive his bachelor's degree in metallurgy from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was recruited to St. Marys Foundry for his expertise in electrical induction melting, and his knowledge and skills quickly made him an integral part of the leadership team. He never stopped learning and was nationally recognized for his knowledge of heavy section ductile iron especially in complex castings. He retired last year after 47 years of service as VP of Metallurgy and Technical Sales.
He was a member of Celina Eagles Post #1291 and the Celina Moose Lodge #1473; where he served as president from 2018-2019. His leadership lead to many community donations and during his presidency the lodge received many awards from Moose International.
One of Jim's passionate hobbies was his music, he loved to play all kind of musical instruments, mostly the guitar. Jim loved all genres of music and being a hippy at heart Neil Young and Jimmy Buffett were his favorite musicians.
Jim loved cooking and was the ultimate foody and chef. He also loved to travel - Key West was his favorite destination. Jim loved the lake life, spending time watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and most of all, Jim loved his family and friends. Jim never met a stranger and always lived life to its fullest. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 22, 2021, from 12:00 pm - 6:00 pm at Cisco Funeral Home in Celina.
A private memorial service in Jim's honor will be held at a later date.
