Allen Dues
Allen Joseph Dues, 16, of Portland, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, August 26, 2021, as the result of an automobile accident.
He was born on October 22, 2004, in Coldwater, Ohio, to Joe and Gail (Siegrist) Dues.
Allen was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Sharon Dues; his paternal great grandparents, Cletus and Martha Dues and Fredrick Rammel; and his maternal great grandparents, Edwin and Mary Siegrist and Lavern and Alfrieda Wolters.
Allen loved everything about being outdoors from hunting to fishing and especially ATV riding and helping family and friends on the farm. He was a proud American and loved his country. He was an ornery and fun-loving young man. As an avid card player, it wasn't uncommon to find Allen caught up in a good euchre game with his family or friends. Allen cared deeply for others and was always willing to help. He was a wonderful older brother to his siblings. He loved his family and he will be dearly missed by all.
Allen was an active member of Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church where he served Mass regularly. He was a Junior at Jay County High School, where he was a member of the FFA and the tennis team. Allen also worked for Liberty Wayne Electric in Coldwater. Previously, Allen worked for North Star Hardware in North Star and for Wayne IGA in Fort Recovery.
In addition to his parents, Allen is survived by his siblings, Jenna, Kevin, and Kayla; his maternal grandparents, Joe and Diane Siegrist of rural Jay County; his paternal grandfather, Joe Dues and his special friend, Janell Wilson, of Portland; his paternal great grandmother, Delma Rammel of St. Henry, Ohio; and his aunts and uncles, Jeremy and Jill Geisendorff of Anderson, Indiana, Eric and Jani Siegrist, Dunkirk, Indiana, Will and Beth Handt, of Brownsburg, Indiana, Kyle and Jill Siegrist of Russia, Ohio, Jeff and Shelly Vaughn of Fort Recovery, Pete and Pam Reinhart of New Bremen, Ohio, Tim and Casey Dues of New Bremen, and Ben and Jamie Dues of Portland. Allen was loved by all his cousins, Tori, Trevor and Alli Vaughn, Josie, Megan and Will Reinhart, Molly and Eli Dues, Max and Sam Dues, Drew, Ben and Sam Geisendorff, Breanne and Kent Seigrist, Braylon and Lillian Handt and Gideon Siegrist.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 AM on Monday, August 30, 2021, at Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Fort Recovery, with Father Ned Brown officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Fort Recovery.
For those who would prefer to join remotely, the Mass will be live streamed at www.fortrecoverycatholics.org/streamspot/.
