Daniel Lammers
Daniel John Lammers, age 70, born March 18, 1951, to Linus and Lois Lammers, died Saturday, September 25, 2021, in Greenville, Ohio, after a long illness.
Dan grew up in St. Henry, Ohio. He had a quiet disposition, was well-liked with many friends, and was a diligent worker in his community. As a youth, he was lauded as an exemplary newspaper carrier. Dan was a very gentle, kind person and deeply loved.
A graduate of St. Henry High School, Dan went on to earn a business administration degree from Miami University in 1975. Unfortunately, Dan faced significant mental health challenges, being diagnosed with the disease of schizophrenia. His courageous response was to accept his illness, to work diligently to address his challenges, and to help others.
Dan was employed by the Second National Bank of Greenville for seventeen years, serving as a warmly respected and well-liked bank courier. During retirement, Dan's health declined as he battled lung cancer and other health complications.
Dan is survived by his mother and strongest mental health advocate, Lois Stammen, of Newark, Ohio, and by his special friend, Cathy Stump, of Greenville. Dan is also survived by three brothers, James (Bea) of Omaha, Nebraska, William (Debbie) of Washington, D.C., Mark (Michelle) of Laguna Hills, California, a sister, Connie Bremer, of Granville, Ohio, sister-in-law, Margaret Lammers, stepbrothers, Marvin (Millie), Howard (Ann), & Ken (Ann) Stammen, and stepsister Mary Ann (Steve) Badgett. Dan was greatly loved by 15 nieces and nephews, many aunts, uncles, cousins, their families, and close friends.
Preceded in death were Dan's father, Linus Lammers, stepfather, Al Stammen, sister-in-law, Amy Lammers, and nephew, Joseph Lammers.
Memorial donations can be made, in Dan's name, to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), the Wayne HealthCare Foundation, or EverHeart Hospice.
A wake service and viewing will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, September 27, 2021, at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in St. Henry, Ohio. Viewing will also occur at the funeral home from 9 to 10 a.m. on Tuesday, September 28, 2021, prior to the church service.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at St. Henry Catholic Church, with burial at the St. Henry Church Cemetery, followed by a luncheon for family and friends.
