Avery Henschen

New Knoxville

5-10 Senior Forward

12.3 PPG, 7.2 Rebounds, 3.0 Assists, 3.1 Steals

After helping the Rangers win the state tournament in volleyball, Henschen came back as a crucial piece for New Knoxville's state tournament run in basketball.

Henschen provided a post presence for the Rangers, balancing out the deep shooting of Haley Fledderjohann, Ellie Gabel and Rebecca Leffel. Henschen was able to put back misses and drive the lane, as well as kicking it out for looks on the perimeter.

On the other end, Henschen was responsible for defending the paint in New Knoxville's man-to-man scheme. She held Coldwater's Riley Rismiller to five points in the regular season and Country Day's Sarah Zimmerman to eight points in the state semifinal.

In the state final, she matched up with 6-3 Avery Wagner and held her to three points, while outrebounding her 10-8.

Henschen, who earned first team all-Midwest Athletic Conference honors, is slated to attend Division II Wheeling University for volleyball.
