* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 12:40 PM EDT Sunday the stage was 13.0 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 13.0 feet this afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage just after midnight tonight. - Flood stage is 13.0 feet.

Louis Dirksen
Louis R. Dirksen, age 84, of rural Pennville passed away on Thursday April 21, 2022 at his residence.
He was born in Maria Stein, Ohio on June 1, 1937 the son of Clarence and Philamena (Homan) Dirksen. He was married on April 19, 1961 to Sally Brandewie who survives.
Louis was a lifelong farmer. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed fishing, horseback riding and watching his grand kids at sporting events.
Surviving are his wife of 61 years Sally, one daughter Diane Geier (husband Thomas) of St. Henry, Ohio, five sons Robert Dirksen (wife Carol) of Bryant, Matthew Dirksen (wife Paula) of Winchester, Dan Dirksen (wife Tina) of Portland, Aaron Dirksen (wife Alicia) of Portland and Alan Dirksen (wife Vickie) of Portland, three sisters Alma Schmitmeyer of Cransberry, Ohio, Joan Poeppelman of Osgood, Ohio and Ruth Evers (husband Marvin) of St. Henry, Ohio, sister in law Judy Dirksen of Casella, Ohio, Thirty eight grandchildren and twenty one great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son Mark Dirksen, grandson Nicolas Dirksen, brothers Herbert Dirksen and Dennis Dirksen, sisters Rita Evers, Helen Wenning and Esther Winner.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday April 25, 2022 at 10:30 AM in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Fr. Matt Arbuckle presiding. Burial will follow in the Green Park Cemetery in Portland.
Visitation will be Sunday from 3:00 - 8:00 PM and Monday from 9:00 - 10:15 AM in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home in Portland.
Memorials can be made to Masses or to the Dirksen family for their intentions.
