Thomas Feltz
Fr. Thomas F. Feltz died on June 15, 2022, at Southern California Hospital in Culver City, California.
He was born on February 4, 1937, in Cassella, Ohio, to Hilma and Hugo Feltz.
He is survived by six siblings: Joe (Arlene), Lou (Arlene), Pat Meikle (Bill), Judy DuVall, Mike, Mary Holloway, plus many nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a brother-in-law, Dick Bruns, and a brother-in-law, Gary DuVall.
He graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in Celina, Ohio, in 1955, then attended the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana, graduating in 1959 with a cum laude degree in aeronautical engineering. After graduation he went to work for North American Aviation in Inglewood, California. From 1968 to 1971 he served as a lay missionary in Lilongwe, Malawi (Africa), teaching high school courses. After those three years he returned to North American Aviation.
In 1980 he entered the seminary, being ordained a priest for the LA Archdiocese in 1985. The assignments during his ministry included S1. Mary Magdalene Church in Camarillo, Sacred Heart Church in Covina, S1. Bernard Catholic Church in Bellflower, and Our Lady of Grace Church in Encino. During the last two years, he continued many of his priestly functions while living at Marycrest Manor in Culver City.
The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on July 5, 2022, at Our Lady of Grace Church in Encino, with Archbishop Jose Gomez presiding. Internment followed at Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City.
