WAPAKONETA - A 4-year-old Michigan child was recovered by Ohio State Patrol troopers Tuesday night near Wapakoneta after he was reportedly kidnapped by his parents during a supervised visit.
The boy's father, Gordon E. Greene Jr., 58, Gobles, Michigan, and mother, Angela Etts, 44, Pullman, Michigan, were taken into custody for federal kidnapping warrants out of Michigan, according to a news release from Ohio State Patrol. Both are being held without bail on felony fugitive from justice charges in the Auglaize County Jail.
Greene Jr. reportedly grabbed his 4-year-old son and fled in a 2000 tan/gold Ford Taurus on Tuesday during a supervised visit, according to information from the Allegan County Sheriff's Office.
The child was allegedly abducted in Allegan County, Michigan.
Greene Jr. and Etts do not have custody of the child, according to documents from the Allegan County Sheriff's Office. One witness reportedly told the Allegan County Sheriff's Office the parents may have been on their way to Florida.
The FBI Office of Grand Rapids, Michigan, believed Greene Jr. was in the Wapakoneta area after they were able to ping his cell phone, according the release, and asked troopers to locate and check on the welfare of the child.
Troopers from the Wapakoneta Post stopped a vehicle at approximately 9:11 p.m. Tuesday and found Greene Jr., Etts and the child in the car, the release reads.
The boy was released to child welfare services of Auglaize County and arrangements were being made to reunite him with his guardian on Tuesday night, according to information from the Allegan County Sheriff's Office.
