Auglaize County grand champion sells for $225,000

COLUMBUS - An Auglaize County teen and her steer named Cruiser shattered a record at the Ohio State Fair Sale of Champions livestock auction on Sunday afternoon at the WCOL Celeste Center.
Ryleigh Egbert's Grand Champion Market Beef went for $225,000, smashing the previous record of $140,000 set in 2011. In fact, the whopping sale amount for Cruiser represents the highest bid on any animal ever since the Sale of Champions began in 1968, according to the Ohio State Fair. [More]

Football season is close to getting underway, but for this week, bowling rules in the Grand Lake area as Minster and Coldwater host events for the Professional Bowlers Association.
Minster gets the first shot at action on the lanes with the PBA Central Region Kremer Roofing Classic that begins today and wraps up Thursday at Community Lanes. [More]

CELINA - A new $2 million electric distribution facility will be financed through a low interest loan program.
City council members at Monday night
ST. MARYS - City council members during their regular Monday meeting approved an ordinance to borrow $12 million for the new city municipal building.
The ordinance was approved after three readings and a public hearing held shortly before the regular meeting.
AUGLAIZE COUNTY - A 31-year-old man was killed Saturday after being thrown from a motorcycle on State Route 385, east of New Hampshire.
