As a member of the Daughters of Isabella, Evelyn helped prepare funeral dinners for St. Denis Catholic Church for 22 years. She treasured daily Mass and was very devoted to saying the Rosary. "Just pray" was her advice.
Following retirement in 2001, Evelyn kept busy making 120 sleeping mats from plastic bags for the homeless, 377 crochet lap blankets, 1,300 sewn lap blankets and many neck scarfs, which were all donated to local charities. Evelyn enjoyed mowing the grass and attending to the blue birds, hummingbirds and butterflies that visited her feeders and bird houses. She also had a knack for growing large beautiful ferns.
Evelyn was a life-long member of Holy Family and St. Denis Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Versailles Area Historical Society, Greenville Farm Power of the Past, Coolspring Power Museum, and several other gas engine clubs. She enjoyed using the RV to camp at gas engine shows during the summer with her husband. She really enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
