Donald Prenger
Donald E. Prenger age 92 of Maria Stein, Ohio, died at 12:13 AM on September 12, 2022 at Mercer Health County Community Hospital, Coldwater.
He was born on April 4, 1930 in Maria Stein to the late Frank & Regina (Mescher) Prenger. He married Mary Watren on August 22, 1959 and she survives in Coldwater.
He is also survived by children: Deb & Louis Heitkamp, Minster, Gary & Kari Prenger, Maria Stein, Carol & Rick Werling, St. Henry, 14 grandchildren 14 great grandchildren and 3 on the way, siblings & in-laws: Annella Franzer, Hilda & Ben Schwieterman, Luella Prenger, Rosemary Prenger, Tom & Charlene Watren.
He was preceded in death by siblings: infant Herbert, Leo & Katherine Prenger, and his second wife Edna Prenger, Alvin & Ann Prenger, Gregor Prenger, Laurina & Richard Poeppelman, Helen & Gregor Buening, Bernard Franzer, Art Prenger, mother-in-law & father-in-law Clarence & Pauline Watren, in-laws Paul Watren & Pat & Bud Timmerman.
Don was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Maria Stein, the Men's Sodality, former Parish Council President and Eucharistic Minister, where he took great pride in bringing the Eucharist to the homebound and nursing home. He was also a Marion Local Athletic Booster, former officer of the Marion Local Band Boosters, helped coach the Maria Stein Little League and Maria Stein Jinx Softball. He was also the starting pitcher on Art's Barber Shop Softball team and in the Chickasaw Horseshoe League. Don was a lifelong farmer and drove milk can route for Pet Milk and he also worked at Friemering Home Furnishings, Shastar and Western Ohio Hardware.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, September 16, 2022 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Maria Stein.
There will be a private family viewing. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery.
There will be a Celebration of Life following the burial at Maria Stein American Legion until 3 PM.
In lieu of flowers donation may be made to Rustic Hope and the Do-Good Restaurant and Ministries.
