Robert Houser
Robert William Houser, age 72, of Russia, passed away Saturday, September 10, 2022, at Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy.
He was born May 22, 1950, in Piqua, to the late Herbert Houser and Ruth (Long) Houser.
Robert is survived by his wife Rose (Meiring) Houser, daughter: Jennifer Houser of San Jacinto, CA; son: Daniel Houser of Sidney; stepchildren; Daniel & Jane (Larger) Cook of Sidney, Thomas Larger of Sidney, Dian (Larger) Carey of Greenville, SC., Steven & Doris (Larger) Abbott of Houston, 20 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son: Billy Houser; stepdaughter: Christine (Larger) Bockrath, great-grandson: Kaydan McBride, brother: John Houser and sister: Barbara Ann Strasburg.
Robert retired from the US Navy after a career of 30 years. He was a Master Chief in the U S Navy during the Vietnam era and was a Mechanic Aviation Specialist on many aircraft carriers. Robert received the National Defense Service Medal (2 awards): the Navy and Marine Corps Overseas Service Ribbon (2 Awards): and the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (4 Awards). He was a member of the Coldwater American Legion and the Sportsman Club of Montezuma, Ohio. He enjoyed working in his yard, keeping it looking immaculate. He also enjoyed playing video games on Nintendo. His favorite game was Zelda, which he enjoyed playing with his grandsons. He loved spending time with his family, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Family and friends may visit on Friday, September 16, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Adams Funeral Home, 1401 Fair Road, Sidney.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at St. Peters St. Paul Cemetery in Newport with full military honors performed by the US Navy and the Shelby County Veterans Association.
