Donald Springer
Donald Eugene Springer, age 84 of Celina, Ohio passed away on Monday, September 19, 2022 at the St. Rita's Hospital in Lima.
He was born on January 28, 1938 in Celina, Ohio to the late Charles Lewis Springer and Sarah Jane (Sellers) Springer-Garee. On June 11, 1960 he married Dorothy Ricker, who survives, living in Celina.
Donald is also survived by his five children David (Joanne) Springer, Robert Springer, Linda (Tony) Schindler, Richard (Carrie) Springer, James (Kerri) Springer all of Celina and his daughter-in-law Ann (Dennis) Fireoved of Mendon. Donald had 15 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. He is survived by one brother Terry Springer of Cincinnati, four sisters-in-law Bessie Poppe-VanKurk of Celina, Shirley Springer of Wapakoneta, Esther Carpenter of New Bremen, Mildred (Richard) DeVore of Antioch, TN and his brother-in-law Norbert Ricker of St. Marys.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son Scott Springer, two grandchildren Monica Springer, Damon Springer, a great granddaughter Destiny Ray Springer, two daughters-in-law Barbara Springer, Linda Springer, two brothers Charles (Wanda) Springer Jr., Edwin Springer, sister Becky Garee, two brothers-in-law Howard Carpenter, Adrian Poppe and two sisters-in-law Betty (Tom) Byerly and Rosemary Ricker.
Donald graduated from Celina High School with the Class of 1957. He was formerly employed at Mersman Brothers Furniture in Celina and retired in 2005 from Erb Lumber. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Celina, a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #1800, the Hopewell Grange and the Pamona Grange. He enjoyed collecting Indian artifacts, pictures, statues and books. He was an avid Cleveland Browns fan and a Cleveland Guardians Fan. He loved his family and will be greatly missed by everyone.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 23, 2022 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Celina, with Fr. John Tonkin officiating. Burial will follow in the Mercer Memory Gardens Cemetery in Celina.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday and from 9-10 a.m. on Friday at the Lehman-Dzendzel Funeral Home in Celina.
Knights of Columbus Council #1800 prayer service will be held at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday.
