Fall Walk With Nature attendees stop to check out Girty's Town Rendevous as they meander down the canal path during last year's walk.

ST. MARYS-The Fall Walk With Nature returns to St. Marys on Oct. 16.
"This year the 53rd Annual Walk with Nature is the biggest and best ever, I am really excited," administrator Terry McDonald said. "This is a community celebration of autumn."
As is tradition, festival goers take an autumn hike on the tow path trail from the Mill Park to Forty Acre Pond.
"Heritage Trails Park District and St. Marys Kiwanis always team up every year for this fall festival event," McDonald said. "You will have a large opportunity to see fall colors and wildlife, possibly see some birds and turtles in the canal."
Girty's Town Rendezvous, a pioneer encampment, will be set up along the path showing what it was like to survive in the 1700s.
She said many vendors to the event this year are new, offering ceramics, wood working, farmers market items, baked goods and more.
Kiwanis President Angela Karen said the festival will also feature plenty of food vendors on Chestnut Street as well as pumpkin painting and axe throwing. There will be shuttles offered from Chestnut Street to Forty Acre Pond.
The St. Marys Community Public Library is holding a bookmark contest ending this Saturday for distribution at the festival. In addition, there will be a large variety of cars at the car show in the Mill Park lot.
Aside from vendors offering wares for sale, the festival is a free event.
"You can bring your family for the day and spend little to no money if you choose," McDonald said.
