Judith Brewer
Judith "Judy" Brewer, 76, of St. Marys, Ohio, passed away at 8:45 a.m. on Saturday, October 29th, 2022 at The Ohio State University Hospitals in Columbus, OH, surrounded by her loving family.
Judith Elaine Hunt Keltner Brewer, mother, friend, and teacher....was born on January 27,1946, in Beloit, Wisconsin, to Meryle Elaine (Heffern, Fabizak) Hunt and Glenn Howard Hunt. She lived in Wisconsin until she was three; in Ft. Pierce, Florida, until she was seven; and then her mother married her stepfather John Keltner of Union City, Indiana, on July 31, 1953. She lived in Union City, Indiana/Ohio before moving to St. Marys in 1994.
Judy leaves behind the three children she adored: Steve Brewer (Lauren Brewer) of Union City, Indiana; Tim Brewer of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Laura Elaine Brewer-Stephens (Michael Stephens) of St. Marys, Ohio. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren Jordan Brewer (Kelly Brewer); Samantha Brewer (Toni Moody); Hannah Brewer; Taylor Brewer; Sydney Brewer; and Sabra Elaine Stephens -Taylor (Matt Taylor). She is also survived by her adorable great-grandsons, Walker and Bodie Brewer and her darling great-granddaughter, Daisy Elaine Chaffee.
Judy was a 1964 graduate of Union City Community High School where she was involved in many activities. She earned a B.A. in English and Language Arts, Speech, and Drama from Manchester University; and an M.A. in the same subjects from Ball State University. She held permanent teaching licenses in both Indiana and Ohio. She earned Superintendent's and Principal's licenses, as well certifications in Curriculum and Supervision from Wright State University. 
She was a teacher at Westmont Schools and Mississinawa Valley Schools - leaving teaching to become Director of Curriculum and Staff Development for the Auglaize County Schools until becoming a full-time lecturer in teacher education and co-founder of the Reading Center at Wright State University, where she earned various recognitions, including Outstanding Lecturer for WSU. She also instructed for the Ohio Department of Education and the Ohio Board of Regents through her work with various State initiatives. She was also a gifted grant writer. She finished her career as a School Consultant and as a Special Projects Coordinator for Mercer County Schools. She loved teaching and helping children.
One of the highlights of her life was being a member of J-Tones, a singing trio well known across a wide area of Indiana and Ohio.
She loved teaching, flowers, animals, and time spent with family and her many, many friends. Judy never knew a stranger, and was known for her distinctive voice, ever-present smile, huge laugh, and many, many hugs.
A celebration of life will be scheduled and announced in the Spring of 2023.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Miller Bros. Funeral Directors in St. Marys.
