Mary Ann Briner
Mary Ann (Segraves) Briner, age 88 of Celina, Ohio passed away on Monday, February 6, 2023.
She was born to the late Herschel Segraves and Lena (Johnson) Segraves on January 10, 1935 in Muncie, Indiana.
Mary Ann is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cherie (Jack) Placie of Cicero, IN. Her first husband Philip Lones of Trinity, FL. Extended family Deb (Briner) Homan of Columbus, Nancy Briner of Sidney, Teresa (Steve) Schuholz of Cincinnati, Jeff (Sandy) Briner of Maumee, brothers & sisters-in-law Jack (Jan) Briner of Maumee, Bob (Lila) Briner of West Carrollton, sister and brother-in-law Susan (Dave) Knapke of Sidney, six beloved grandchildren, Alex Homan, Will Homan, Ross Homan, Phillip Schuholz, Lindsay Briner, Mitchell Briner and a number of other loving relatives and close friends.
Mary Ann graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1953. She was active in the music program and enjoyed being in the high school band playing her flute. She married fellow classmate Philip Lones in 1954 and moved to Lima, Ohio where the family launched a tire and automotive service business, Rawls, Inc. Above all else, with great delight, they proudly raised two strong, confident children, Greg and Cherie.
In 1986, Mary Ann married Daniel Briner. Dan graduated from Coldwater High School in 1955. He played Minor League Baseball with the Detroit Tigers. He was a co-owner of Briner's Restaurant and retired as a financial advisor for Lincoln Financial.
Mary Ann loved gathering with family and friends, sharing laughter and recalling fun events. She loved traveling, boating, walking, hiking, playing cards, Ohio State football and community service. She was an avid bowler, gifted with a collection of trophies and loved the game of golf with the breathtaking views of nature. She worked for Lima Memorial Hospital. She retired as a customer service representative for Sears. She was a past member of the Shawnee Country Club and Trinity United Methodist Church in Lima, Ohio, where she nurtured and cared for youth, with her whole heart, in Sunday school class. She was a current member of the Grand Lake United Methodist Church in Celina, Ohio. Mary Ann truly trusted in her unwavering faith. She was a light to all who knew her. She was pure of heart and she always saw the very best in everyone she met. To know her was to love her and be loved by her. For those who cared for Mary Ann and visited with her frequently, thank you, we will never forget your acts of kindness.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband Daniel Briner and son Greg Lones. Sisters Sarah (Segraves) Martin, Vera (Segraves) Cummins, Lorena (Segraves) Brookbank, Phyllis (Segraves) Bousman. Brothers Don Segraves and Fred Segraves. Parents Herschel Segraves and Lena (Johnson) Segraves.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
