Katherine Spoltman
Katherine A. Spoltman, age 66 of Chickasaw, died Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at her home in Chickasaw after a 2 year, hard-fought battle against leukemia.
She was born November 22, 1956, in Coldwater to Carl & Mary (Wenning) Kohn.
On July 22, 1978, she married her husband, John Spoltman. John survives in Chickasaw.
Kathy is also survived by two daughters, Jennifer & Mark Bills of Chickasaw, and Janelle Spoltman & Joe Benedict of Columbus, two grandchildren, Carson and Evelyn Bills, as well as siblings, Ron & Carol Kohn of Celina, Gerry & Connie Kohn of Philothea, Kris & Jeff Boise of Coldwater, her mother-in-law Julie Spoltman of Philothea, and in-laws, MaryAnn & Carl Harting of Philothea, Michelle & John Huelsman of Minster, and Allen & Teri Spoltman of Chickasaw, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Kathy is preceded in death by an infant son, William Spoltman, her father-in-law Ronald Spoltman, and brothers-in-law, Craig and Ken Spoltman.
Kathy was an LPN and worked most of her 20 year nursing career at Dr. Plaza's office. She was a book-keeper for the family farm, and was a busy Nana who loved spending time with her grandchildren and attending their activities. Kathy enjoyed attending University of Dayton basketball games, Ohio State football games, and spending time at their lake cottage, vacationing, and taking casino trips. Kathy served as a past president of the Marion Local Band Boosters and had taught religion in Chickasaw. She was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church in Chickasaw and was a member of the Ladies Sodality at the church.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 am Friday, February 24, 2023, at Precious Blood Church in Chickasaw. The mass will be live streamed at www.marioncatholiccommunity.org for those not available to attend in person.
Burial will follow in Precious Blood Cemetery. Friends may call from 2:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday, February 23, and 9:00 to 9:45 am Friday, February 24, at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in St. Henry. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Mercer County Special Olympics. Condolences may be left at hogenkampfh.com.
