New Bremen sophomore Andy Jiang finished eighth in both the 200-yard individual medley and the 100 butterfly, earning All-Ohio honors in both events, in the Division II swimming state championships at C. T. Branin Natatorium on Friday.
Jiang swam the 100 fly in 52.12 seconds, a tick above his prelim time of 51.95, and finished .46 seconds behind Hunting Valley University's Alex Pesek to take eighth in the A-Final. In the 200 IM, he swam a 1:57.54, 1.17 seconds behind seventh-place Aiden Owens of HVU.
Celina freshman Jackson Newcomb finished 10th in the 100-yard breaststroke, swimming a time of 59.79 in the B-Final to move up two spots and missing out on ninth-place by .01 seconds. In the 50 free, Newcomb swam a 22.19 to finish 15th.
St. Marys' 200 medley relay placed 15th, with Reese Triplett, Marcus McClain, Griffin Luebke and Bradey Triplett combining for a time of 1:42.03 in the B-Final.
