Margaret Seyfried
Margaret L. "Pat" Seyfried age 99 of New Bremen, died on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at 8:30 A.M. at the Elmwood Assisted Living of New Bremen.
She was born on April 12, 1923 in Toledo, the daughter of the late Albert and Louise (Vultee) Rau. On September 4, 1948, she married Donald N. Seyfried and together they shared 72 years before his death on March 14, 2021.
Surviving are her daughters Susan (David) Popwell of Decatur, GA, Diane (Robert) Strawn of Lakeside Park, KY, and MaryAnn (Glenn) Seyfried-Clemmons of Ashburn, VA; her grandchildren: Dr. Jeffrey (Lara) Strawn, Jeremy (Nicole) Clemmons, Mallory Clemmons, Courtney (Evan) Clemmons-Hoffman; great-grandchildren: Rachel and Elliott Strawn and Oliver Clemmons.
She will also be fondly remembered by her sister Gertrude Brownlee of Sanford, MI, and by her countless nieces and nephews who referred to her as A.P. Along with her parents and husband, Margaret was preceded in death by her siblings Bernard Rau, Doris Quick, and Ruth Richmond.
Margaret was a graduate of the former Weidman High School in Weidman, MI, and continued her education at Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. She went on to live in Lansing, Michigan where she worked as an X-ray technician and was a transcriptionist in the radiology department at Sparrow Hospital. This is where she would eventually met Don. They were married in 1948, and in 1951 they made their way to New Bremen where they settled and raised their three daughters. She had been an active member of the Church of the Holy Redeemer in New Bremen where she was involved with the funeral luncheon committee, was a Holy Duster, a Sacristan, and also taught 3rd grade CCD for 13 years. To know Margaret was to love her. Her kindness, positive attitude, and quick wit will certainly be missed by her friends and family.
The family will receive friends at the Church of the Holy Redeemer in New Bremen for an hour, starting at 9:30 A.M., with a Memorial Mass to follow, on Thursday, March 2, 2023 at 10:30 A.M. with the Rev. Fr. Mark Hoying and Deacon Mr. Brad Feltz officiating. The Mass will also be live-streamed through the church's website. Inurnment will take place together with her husband Don at a later date in the St. Joseph the Worker Cemetery in Beal City, Michigan.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Margaret can be made to the Grand Lake Hospice (1122 E. Spring Street, St. Marys, Ohio 45885) or to the Holy Redeemer Church - CCD Program (P.O. Box 67, New Bremen, Ohio 45869).
