  Hess may not be the offensive juggernaut of the Flyers, but coach Kurt Goettemoeller has described him on numerous occasions as the playmaker of the team. His ability to pass the ball to the open player is balanced by being the go-to defender for Marion Local.

  While Jack Knapke and Jadyn Mescher are the main scorers, Hess has come up with big scoring nights, especially late in the season when Knapke suffered a shoulder injury in the loss to Versailles and missed the last two regular season games and the first tournament game.

  The MAC coaches respected Hess' work so much that he earned first-team All-Conference honors.
