CELINA - A 26-year-old Mendon woman has been indicted on aggravated vehicular homicide and operating a vehicle under the influence of marijuana for her role in a fatal accident in Center Township in late December.
A grand jury last week handed down a three-count indictment for Serina Siano, Mercer County Common Pleas Court documents show. She was charged with aggravated vehicular homicide, a second-degree felony; aggravated vehicular homicide, a third-degree felony; and operating a vehicle while under the influence of a listed controlled substance or a listed metabolite of a controlled substance, a first-degree misdemeanor.
The indictment alleges Siano, while operating a motor vehicle on or about Dec. 19, unlawfully caused the death of Becky J. Fuson of Celina. Sianao is also alleged to have been operating under the influence of marijuana, the indictment shows.
Siano is scheduled to make an initial appearance before county common pleas court judge Matthew Fox at 9 a.m. March 29, court documents indicate.
Mercer County central dispatch received a call at 6:28 a.m. Dec. 19 of a two-vehicle crash that occurred at the intersection of Rice and Oregon roads in Center Township, according to a Mercer County Sheriff's Office news release.
Siano was reportedly driving a 2021 gray Honda Accord southbound on Rice Road. Fuson was driving a 2019 silver Chevrolet Impala eastbound on Oregon Road. Siano ran the stop sign at the intersection of Rice and Oregon roads, striking Fuson's vehicle on the driver's side, according to the release.
Both drivers were transported by Celina Emergency Medical Services to Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys for treatment, where Fuson was pronounced dead.
