Annella Franzer
Annella C. Franzer, age 94, of Coldwater and formerly of Carthagena, passed away on Monday, April 10, 2023, at Briarwood Village in Coldwater.
She was born April 23, 1928, in Maria Stein, to the late Frank & Regina (Mescher) Prenger. On June 30, 1951, she married Bernard Franzer. Barney and Annella raised their family and enjoyed 43 years of marriage until Barney's sudden passing on July 26, 1994.
Annella is survived by her nine children and their spouses: Mike & Pat Franzer of Celina, Marlene & Joe Overman of Coldwater, Shirley & Roger Albers of Osgood, Mary Lou & Roger Homan of Philothea, Bill & Sandy Franzer of Carthagena, Alice Ahrens of Celina, Sharon Franzer of Coldwater, Lois & Ted Lyons of Versailles, Amy & Jerry Schlarman of New Weston. Also surviving Annella are 27 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, and two on the way, as well as a sister and in-laws: Hilda & Ben Schwieterman of Ft. Recovery, Luella Prenger of Coldwater, Mary Prenger of Coldwater, Rody Prenger of Chickasaw, and Norma Knapke of Cranberry Prairie.
In addition to her parents and husband, Annella is preceded in death by a son-in-law, Don Ahrens, a granddaughter, Kirsten Schlarman, a granddaughter-in-law Jenna Albers, and great grandchildren Veda and Gabriel Albers, as well as siblings and in-laws: Lee & Edna Prenger, Greg Prenger, Don Prenger, Helen & Greg Buening, Art Prenger, Herbert Prenger, Alvin & Ann Prenger, Laurina & Richard Poeppelman, Katherine Prenger, Leander & Alvina Franzer, Roman & Letty Franzer, Mary & Tony Guggenbiller, Carl & Marian Franzer, Esther & Werner Jutte, Mildred & Jerome Wente, and Mark Knapke.
Annella was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Carthagena, and the St. Monica Ladies Sodality at the church.She was a devoted homemaker and a hard-working farmer's wife. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, and gardening. Annella loved being with her family, and especially attending her grandchildren's sporting events and activities.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 14, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church. Burial will follow the services in the St. Aloysius Cemetery.
Friends and family may call from 2:00pm - 7:00pm on Thursday, April 13, and from 9:00am - 10:00am on Friday at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in St. Henry.
