Betty Plattner
Betty Plattner, of New Bremen, died on Monday, May 15, 2023 at 6:34 AM at her home after a battle with her health.
She was born on June 13, 1936 in Carey, Ohio, the daughter of the late Carroll Woodward and Dorothy Nadine (Webb) Klingler. On June 19, 1955, she married Richard E. Plattner, and they shared 65 wonderful years together before his death in 2020.
Survivors include a son and daughter in-law Kim (Joann) Plattner of Celina, a son in-law Tom Henline of St. Marys, her nine grandchildren: Moriah, Leah, and Sarah Plattner, Shawn (Marisa) Henline, and Josh (Sara) Borgus all of Celina, Nikki (Alan) Gilbert, and Heather (Chuck) Stockton all of St. Marys, Tommy Henline of Sidney, Tasha (Jay) Miller of Buckland; nineteen great-grandchildren, and six great-great grandchildren. Also left to cherish her memory are is her brother Dennis Klingler of St. Marys, a sister and brother in-law Barbara (Emil) Broni of Ft. Wayne, and her sister in-laws: Beverly Plattner and Martha Plattner of New Bremen.
Along with her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by her daughters Kelly Henline and Teri Henline, a sister and brother in-law Beverly (Bill) Laffin; and her in-laws: Edith Klingler, Ralph, Eugene, Edward and Betty Lou Plattner.
Betty was a faithful and active member of Faith Alliance Church in New Bremen where she had been the chair of the funeral luncheon committee for many years. She and Rich were always on the go taking car rides to various places locally, going camping with their camping club, as well as many trips to Branson / Joplin, Missouri, and the Michigan sand dunes.
Together they enjoyed being in a card club, and playing board games. They had also owned the former Treasure House Ceramics in New Bremen for over 30 years, and Betty had also worked at the former Seiberling Latex in New Bremen as well as assembly for Crown Equipment Corp. in New Bremen. Betty was an avid collector of cookie cutters, stamps, coins, angels, and Precious Moments. She loved to share her collections with the community at the festival of trees each year.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Betty's life will be held on Friday, May 19, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at the Faith Alliance Church in New Bremen, with Pastor Trent Fledderjohann officiating.
Calling hours will be held prior to the service on Friday, at the church, from 9:30 until 11:00 A.M.
