Thelma Barga
Thelma Marie (Muhlenkamp) Barga, age 89, formerly of North Star, passed away of natural causes Friday morning, June 23, 2023, at Briarwood Village, in Coldwater, Ohio.
She was born May 4, 1934, in St. Anthony, Ohio, to the late Edmund & Rosella (Uleman) Muhlenkamp. On October 13, 1956, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Thelma married David R. Barga who preceded her in death on June 27, 2020.
Surviving are seven sons: Douglas & Tammy Barga of Seattle, WA, Gregory & Deborah Barga of North Star, Chuck & Debra Barga of Versailles, Alan & Kim Barga of Versailles, Todd & Deb Barga of North Star, Matt & LeeAnn Barga of Miamisburg and Michael & Gwenn Barga of North Star; 26 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; six (of 12) siblings: Ruth Hardin of Sarasota, FL, Marge Paulus of Celina, Mary & Carl Obringer of Fort Recovery, David & Marcia Muhlenkamp of Fort Recovery, Connie Andrus of Columbus and Judy & Jerry Schulze of Celina; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Muhlenkamp of Fort Recovery and a brother-in-law, Pat McClurg of Versailles along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by six siblings: infant Alice Muhlenkamp, Don Muhlenkamp, Doris & Jerry Schafer, Vera & Don Alig, Ken & Carolyn Muhlenkamp and Ginny McClurg as well as brothers & sisters-in-law: Jack Hardin, Jim Paulus, Tom Andrus, Marion & Ursula Barga, Ruth & Clarence Broerman, Marlene & Jim McClurg, Doris & Paul Rindler and Sr. Maura Barga.
Mrs. Barga was a devoted homemaker. Years ago, she had also worked at Celina Fisher's and JCPenney in both Celina and Greenville. She was a 1952 graduate of Coldwater High School and belonged to St. Louis Catholic Church, St. Ann's Ladies Sodality and the North Star American Legion Auxiliary. Thelma enjoyed any opportunity for a spirited game of cards.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 AM, Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at St. Louis Church in North Star with Rev. James Reutter presiding. Interment will follow at St. Louis Cemetery.
Family and friends may call Tuesday 3:00 to 7:00 PM at Gehret Funeral Home in Fort Loramie and Wednesday 9:00 to 10:00 AM in the church gathering room.
