JoAnn Freeman
JoAnn Freeman, 82, of New Bremen, OH passed away with her loved ones at her side, at 8:41 p.m Saturday August 12, 2023 at JTDM Hospital in St. Marys.
She was born March 24, 1941 in Mercer Co., OH to Forest and Bessie (Raymond) Davis.
On October 22, 1956 in Celina, OH she married Roger Freeman and he preceded her in death on June 15, 2015.
Survivors include: daughter Rebecca (Guy) Waterman of New Bremen, OH; son James (Debra) Freeman of New Bremen, OH; 3 grandchildren: Anthony (Angela) Waterman, Amanda (Benjamin) Wibbeler, Aaron (Rachael) Freeman; 6 great-grandchildren: Hunter and McKenzie Waterman, Hayden Wibbeler, Alice, Regina and Violet Freeman; and sister Marlene Booher-Marsee of Celina, OH.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Harold Davis; sister Renda Shellito, and great grandson Joseph Freeman.
She attended Celina high school. She was very talented as a seamstress and provided tailoring for the Esquire Men's Store in New Bremen for many years. She was an Avon representative and formerly employed by Crown. JoAnn had a passion for helping people. Her enthusiastic interest and knowledge in natural healing, reflexology and iridology brought people from near and far to her home for over 40 years. She will always be remembered for her kind caring heart.
She was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ and New Bremen Rod & Gun Club. As a member of the National Muzzleloading Rifle Association, she participated in rifle, pistol and shotgun at the nationals with her husband at her side. Over the years she won national titles in these shooting disciplines and dominated many of the women's shotgun matches. She was the first woman to shoot the men's flintlock championship and won.
JoAnn and Roger put many miles on their BMW motorcycles along with their children. She enjoyed fishing, camping, bingo, Yahtzee, and weekend events. Making memories with her family and friends was her greatest joy. And yet, no one was a stranger to her.
Rites are scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday August 16, 2023 at the Miller Funeral Home 1605 Celina Road (Ohio 703 West) in St. Marys. Burial will follow at the Willow Grove Cemetery near New Bremen.
Visitation 4 - 7 p.m. on Tuesday and after 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.Memorial contributions may be directed to: Grand Lake Hospice and New Bremen Emergency Squad.
