Marjorie Rhodes
Marjorie L. Rhodes. On Thursday, September 21, 2023, at 5:55PM, Marge, surrounded by her loving family and under home hospice care went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
She was born in rural Mercer County, Ohio on April 5, 1936, the daughter of Edward and Anna (Hone) Schleucher. Marge was a 1954 graduate of Celina High School. On March 20, 1955, she married Sam Rhodes, Jr.
She graduated from Bowling Green University with a BS degree, then from Indiana University with a MS degree. She was dearly loved by the many 5th and 6th grade students she taught in the Central Local School District for 33 years, retiring in 2001. She was a member of the Defiance Church of the Nazarene since 2002, serving as Sunday School and KidzClub teacher as well as hostess of a small group bible study in her home
Marge loved to spend time with her four sons and their wives, Mark (Deb), Tim (Tami), Steve (Tami), and Gregg; her grandchildren, Sarah, Bryce, Erin (Erik), Brady (Jessie), Brock (Rachel), Samantha (Luke), and Nick (Christina); step-grandchildren, Josh, Jeremy, Ryan, Jordan, Derek, and thirteen great-grandchildren, Allison, Alexis, Adley, Ransom, Felix, Charlotte, Natcha, Penelope, Charlie, Beckett, Evelyn, Delilah, and Daphne. Her next favorite pastimes were traveling with her husband and family, especially in the Rocky Mountains, going to her family's sporting events, shopping with daughters-in-law, reading, and devotional time with God.
Marge is survived by her loving husband, Sam Rhodes; her four sons and three daughters-in-law; twelve grand-children and their spouses; thirteen great-grandchildren, and brother/sister-in-law, Dick and Jackie Schleucher of Celina.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Anna Schleucher and brother, Don.
Visitation will be at the Defiance Church of the Nazarene, 1656 Jefferson Ave., Defiance, OH on Thursday, September 28, 2023, from 6:00-9:00PM.
Family will also receive friends on Friday, September 29, 2023, at 12:00PM, also at the church, where a service honoring Marge's life will follow at 1:00PM officiated by Pastor Don Leonard. Burial will then take place at the Sherwood Cemetery.
