Nandor Varsanyi
Nandor Istvan Varsanyi, 75, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2023, at Hope Hospice Center in Cape Coral, Florida.
Nandor was born on January 10, 1948, in Hungary to the late Nandor Agoston and Elizabeth (Dobesh) Varsanyi. He spent most of his life in Greenville, Ohio.
Nandor leaves his wife of almost 39 years, Paula. Nandor went from two daughters to five when he married Paula and became a father to her three girls as well. This created one patient man who often spent weekends at a tiny lake house filled with five young girls. He navigated the drama of girls with his best patience.
He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law Agoston "Fred" and Anne Varsanyi of Gahanna, Ohio and his cousin Mihaly Polczer who was raised as a brother with him. Along with his wife Paula, he is survived by daughters Amy (Brent) Demoray, Michelle (Steve) Jones, Pamela Shepherd, Laura Ahrens, and Jenny Lyons. Grandchildren Alex Shepherd, Hannah Shepherd, Evan Demoray, Reagan Demoray, and Keira Jones. Also 2 great-grandchildren Olivia and Jayden, many nieces and nephews, and of course, his dog Max. He loved playing with the grandchildren and always wanted them to "get a big hug" from him when he wasn't around.
Nandor worked hard and never missed an opportunity to enjoy life or play hard. He did this by bowling in his younger years and boating and fishing at Grand Lake St. Mary's for more than 30 years in later life. He graduated from Bowling Green State University and spent most of his career working for Treaty Company/Hughes Supply as a salesman and was extremely successful at his trade. In retirement he spent time with his feet up in a recliner or driving his golf cart to check on his garden of tomatoes, peppers and more. He began following his dress code of "shorts unless there was snow on the ground" in retirement. He and Paula split their time between Celina, Ohio and Cape Coral, Florida until July 2022 making Florida their one home. He never missed an opportunity to remind their girls to make sure they were saving money and loved to hear about their 401K or pensions.
Family and close friends will gather for a celebration of life at a future date on Grand Lake St. Marys.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Career Tech program at Greenville City Schools, Greenville Ohio. Nandor's first career as a teacher impacted many and set his overall intention for people to have a plan for their future.
