Rosetta Mertz
Rosetta K. Mertz, 92, of Botkins, passed away at 5:00 a.m., Saturday, October 28, 2023 at Otterbein Cridersville.
She was born on June 5, 1931 in Fryburg to Joseph and Margaret (Warmuth) Wagner who preceded her in death. On May 25, 1955 she married Bernard J. Mertz and he passed away on December 20, 2020.
Survivors include 3 children David (Jean Ann) Mertz of Wapakoneta, Janice (Dave) Lonsdale of Columbus, Jane (Kenneth) Braun of Wapakoneta; 6 grandchildren Emilia (Adam) Baker, Megan (Ryan) McGrath, Amy (Zach) Wilson, Jessica (Josh) Muhlenkamp, Thomas (Samantha) Braun, Bobbi Jo (Andy) Bendele; 7 great-grandchildren Brynn Baker, Payton Bendele, Lily Bendele, Violet Bendele, Oliver Braun, Abraham Braun, Charlie Wilson; siblings Clarence Wagner of Marietta, OK, Vic Wagner of Wapakoneta, and Rita Reigelsperger of Uniopolis; sisters and brother-in-law Joyce Wagner of Cridersville, Patrick Mertz of Clermont, Norma Mertz of Minster and many nieces and nephews.
Rosetta was preceded in death by her siblings Leo Wagner, Richard (Phyllis) Wagner, Harold (Donna) Wagner; brothers and sisters-in-law Marcena Wagner, Victoria Wagner, Paul Reigelsperger, Sister Adeline Mertz C.P.P.S, Robert (Alvera) Mertz, Charles (Alma) Mertz, Thomas Mertz, Theresa (Stanley) Fiely and Margaret (Herbert) Quinter.
Rosie attended Botkins High School. She was a lifelong homemaker and was a member of St. John Catholic Church and the Ladies Sodality. She enjoyed baking, crafts and flower gardening. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the greatest joy of her life.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 3, 2023 at St. John Catholic Church, Fryburg with Father Michael Willig officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Family and friends may visit from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Wapakoneta.
